Practical Astronomy starts here...

HantsAstro is for anyone who has any interest in Astronomy who wishes to use this as a stepping stone into something more active across Hampshire or beyond.

It's a new way of being part of an astronomy Group with no annual upfront membership fee. It's a new kind of group, free observing sessions, free e-Zine with buyers' guides to help you chose your fist telescope, and reviews on the latest gear.

It's a new breed of astronomy Group, stripped back to what it all should be about really:
observing the night sky. We now have three observing sites with others coming online shortly, to provide a unique network of sites across Hampshire.

WSC near Winchester, observing sessions are Free of Charge and a great introduction to the night sky. Our regular co-hosting of the best Telescope Amnesty in the UK with Planetarium show is not to be missed! see our video!

Garthowen at Four Marks.
£4 per session per person or buy a Site Pass or Multi-Pass
Ages 11+ only (must be accompanied by parent or guardian). Please ask for details

Butser Ancient Farm at Chalton.
£4 per session per person or buy a Site Pass or Multi-Pass
Ages 11+ only (must be accompanied by parent or guardian
). Please ask for details.

Our focus is hands-on practical observing and imaging, and we have a unique and flexible observing programme which is based on 'clear skies' forecasting, so we'll be using our telescopes whenever we can and it works! It's a mixture of free and entry-fee based observing sessions
It's pay as you go astronomy as and when you want to...

We now have our own collection of ten telescopes, from a 70mm refractor through to a 10" Dobsonian Or you can bring and use your own 'scope as most of our members do, either way practice makes perfect. It's a great way to discover astronomy.

How can we do all of this? The advertising in our free magazines, observing pass and sponsorship revenue cover the running and equipment costs. It's a revolutionary new way of running an astronomy Group, and opens up new avenues of opportunity for our members, with an online store in progress, and special events such as our free MoonFest roadshow and Telescope Amnesties.

Our free monthly eZine Look Up! contains unique UK based reviews on 'Grab n Go' scopes, a monthly observing target list and techniques to make your astronomy even better... With 32 pages and downloaded right across the UK and beyond, there's simply nothing else like it.
Subscribe to ensure you get it first!

Too far away from us but want to get into astronomy? AstroSouth our new directory covers the South of England and lists every Astronomy Group and Planetarium, so you can find out more about astronomy in your area and to get involved, download your copy for free!

Now it's even better! You now have the option of reading it on-screen using ISSUU(tm), which shows our magazines in their true technicolour glory. Back issues are currently being rolled out. Go full-screen for that true flick-thru magazine experience. With HantsAstro you're part of a pioneering Group! Enjoy!
