Hampshire Astronomy shines with HantsAstro
In just 5 years HantsAstro has become that largest Astronomy Group in Hampshire. We have three active observing sites plus reserve sites, to provide a unique network of dark sky observing/imaging across the county.
There's no members' only areas, committees or stuffy constitutions here! It's all simply based around you, the Sky and your telescope, whatever your experience. We're over a generation younger than your traditional astronomy society and are very active, with over 300 members.
Our focus is hands-on practical observing and imaging the night sky, and we have a unique and flexible observing programme throughout the year.
We have our own collection of eight telescopes, from a 70mm refractor through to a 10" Dobsonian. Or you can bring and use your own 'scope as most of our members do. It's a great way to discover astronomy with like-minded people and learn more about the night sky.
We operate up to three active sites at a time for the 2013 season: Our premium site BUTSER ANCIENT FARM where we meet fortnightly, and BUTSER HILL, Coney Acres (or QECP Visitor Centre) once a month. Access to these to sites require an annual pass for just £18. To join us click here
Why not sharpen up your skills to get even more from your hobby with our new Astronomy Classes? They are great for helping you get to grips with your new telescope or save money on buying a new one. Sharpen up your skills in astro-imaging and image-processing.
They start from £12 and you get a CD or DVD packed full of astronomy software.
Our very active Facebook Group is a great source of information too and you can see what we're up to on a daily basis from meets to the best images our members can muster.
Subscribe to our free monthly eZine Look Up! contains unique UK based reviews on astronomy gear, news, event and techniques to make your astronomy even better...
