Hampshire Astronomy shines with HantsAstro

In just 6 years HantsAstro has become the largest Astronomy Group in the South, and one of the biggest in the UK
.

HantsAstro has three active observing sites, to provide the best way to get in practical astronomy or astro-imaging, with regular classes to help you do more.

We run evenings for observing/imaging across the county, with Free Public Events and members 'StarCamps' throughout the year.

The best upgrade for your telescope is simply a Dark Sky Site.

There's no members' only areas, committees or stuffy constitutions here! It's all simply based around you, the Sky and your telescope, whatever your experience. We're over a generation younger than your traditional astronomy society and are very active, with nearly 400 members.

Our focus is hands-on practical observing and imaging the night sky, and we have a unique and flexible observing programme throughout the year.

We have access to some of the latest telescopes available. Or you can bring and use your own 'scope as most of our members do. It's a great way to discover astronomy with like-minded people and learn more about the night sky.

We operate up to three active sites at a time for the 2013 season: Our premium site BUTSER ANCIENT FARM where we meet fortnightly, and BUTSER HILL, Coney Acres (or QECP Visitor Centre) once a month. Access to these to sites require an annual pass for just £18. To join us click here

Why not sharpen up your skills to get even more from your hobby with our new Astronomy Classes? They are great for helping you get to grips with your new telescope or save money on buying a new one. Sharpen up your skills in astro-imaging and image-processing. They start from £12 and you get a CD or DVD packed full of astronomy software.

Our very active and free Facebook Group of nearly 300 astronomers is another great source of information too! You can see what we're up to on a daily basis from meets to the best images our members can muster.

Subscribe to our free monthly eZine Look Up! contains unique UK based reviews on astronomy gear, news, event and techniques to make your astronomy even better...

AstroSouth is our free directory which covers the South of England and lists over 80 astronomy groups and planetariums, so you can find out more about astronomy in the South of England and where to get involved. There is also our Top 20 iTunes fortnightly 2020Astro Podcast, if you want to hear what UK Astronomy is like and downloaded in over 100 countries.
